Website Design Questions

Everything you need to know about how adPRO designs and builds websites for businesses in Southern Maryland and beyond.

  • Do I really need a professional website — can't I just use Facebook?

Facebook is a great supplement to your online presence — but it's not a replacement for a website. Here's why: you don't own your Facebook page. Facebook can change its algorithm, restrict your reach, or even suspend your page at any time. Your website is yours — forever.

More importantly, when someone searches Google for a plumber, a dentist, or a restaurant in Southern Maryland, they get websites — not Facebook pages. If you don't have a website, you simply don't exist in those results. 97% of consumers research a business online before visiting or making a purchase. Don't let them find your competitor instead.

  • What makes an adPRO website different from using Wix, Squarespace, or GoDaddy?

DIY builders give you a template and wish you luck. adPRO gives you a custom-designed, strategically built website backed by 25+ years of marketing experience and master-certified SEO expertise.

    The biggest differences:

adPRO researches your market, keywords, and competitors before designing anything

√SEO is built into the structure and content from day one — not an add-on

√Your design is created to represent you— it looks like your brand, not just any template shared by thousands of other businesses

√You get a real person who knows your project and is available when you need them

√DIY builders can take 40–100+ hours of your time — adPRO handles everything

  • Will my website work on smartphones and tablets?

Yes — mobile-first responsive design is standard on every adPRO website, not an upgrade. Your site will look and function perfectly on smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktops.

This matters more than ever. More than 60% of all web searches now happen on mobile devices. Google also uses mobile-first indexing — meaning it evaluates the mobile version of your site to determine your search rankings. A site that doesn't work well on phones doesn't just lose customers, it loses rankings too.

  • What type of information should I have on a real estate or builder website?

Every builder or real estate company wants different information on their website, but there is standard information that helps sell homes. Here is the basic list adPRO would like to have to make your homes-for-sale website work for you:

A photo or sketch of the home and all available elevations for the model

√Interior photos with descriptions (e.g. "Gourmet kitchen with granite countertops")

The home name and name of the development

√Address of the home or lot

√Good resolution copy of the floor plan

√A complete list of home features and included finishes

    √Price or starting price range

    √Square footage, bedrooms, bathrooms

√Contact form or call-to-action to schedule a showing

√The more detail you provide for each listing, the more time buyers will spend on your site — and the more likely they are to contact you.

  • Can adPRO redesign my existing website?

Yes — website redesigns are one of our most common projects. If your current site is outdated, slow to load, not mobile-friendly, or simply not generating the leads it should, adPRO can rebuild it properly.

During your free consultation, we'll review your existing site and tell you exactly what's holding it back. In most cases, a redesign with proper SEO can make a significant difference in your search rankings and customer inquiries within a few months of launch.

  • What features can my website include?

adPRO builds websites with a wide range of features depending on your goals. Common features include:

√Contact forms and quote request forms

    √Photo and video galleries

    √eCommerce and online store functionality

    √Appointment booking and scheduling

    √Google Maps integration

    √Newsletter signup forms

    √Blog and news sections

    √Testimonials and review sections

    √Social media integration

    √Live chat setup

    √Full width video backgrounds

    √Animated logos

    √Staff and team pages

    √FAQ sections

If you have something specific in mind that isn't listed, ask us — chances are we can build it.

  • Will I be able to update my website myself?

Yes — adPRO can build your website so that you're able to update basic content, add blog posts, and make simple changes yourself without needing to call us. We provide training on how to use your site's content management system at launch.

If you'd rather not deal with updates at all, adPRO offers website maintenance plans where we handle all updates, security patches, and content changes for you on an ongoing basis. Many of our clients find this to be the most time-efficient option.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Questions

Understanding SEO is the key to understanding why some websites get found and others don't. Here are the most common questions we hear.

  • What is SEO and why does my website need it?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It's the practice of building and optimizing your website so that Google and other search engines rank it higher when people search for what you offer.

Think of it this way: if someone in Calvert County searches "electrician near me" and your website doesn't appear in the first page of results, that search — and that customer — goes to your competitor. SEO is what determines whether your site shows up or disappears.

adPRO holds master certifications in SEO from the University of San Francisco. We build SEO into every website from the very first day — not as an afterthought.

  • How long does it take for SEO to work?

SEO is a long-term investment, not a quick fix. In most cases, you can expect to see meaningful movement in your rankings within 3 to 6 months of launching a properly optimized site, with continued growth over 6 to 12 months as Google builds trust in your site's authority.

Factors that affect timeline include how competitive your industry is, how long your website has been live, how many quality backlinks your site has, and how well your content is optimized. With an SEO p;an adPRO monitors your rankings monthly and adjusts strategy as needed.

  • What is local SEO and why does it matter for my Southern Maryland business?

Local SEO is the practice of optimizing your website to appear in searches that include a location — like "plumber Calvert County" or "restaurant Prince Frederick MD." It also includes appearing in Google's map results (the "local pack") that show up at the top of search results for location-based queries.

For most Southern Maryland businesses, local SEO is the most important type of SEO. It targets customers who are already in your area and actively looking for your services. adPRO specializes in local SEO strategy for businesses throughout Calvert County, Charles County, St. Mary's County, and the broader Southern Maryland region.

  • What is AEO and GEO optimization — and do I need it?

AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is the practice of optimizing your content so that AI-powered tools like Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity choose your business as the source they recommend when someone asks a relevant question.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) goes further — ensuring your business appears in the AI-generated responses that are increasingly replacing traditional search results entirely.

If your customers are using AI tools to find local services — and more of them are every month — then yes, you need it. adPRO is one of the very few agencies in Southern Maryland currently offering dedicated AEO and GEO services. Getting ahead of this now is a significant competitive advantage.

  • Can you guarantee that my website will rank #1 on Google?

Any agency that guarantees a specific Google ranking is making a promise they cannot keep — Google's algorithm is controlled by Google, not by any agency. What adPRO can guarantee is that every decision we make is based on current SEO best practices, your site will be built and optimized correctly, and we will monitor and adjust your strategy on an ongoing basis.

What we can tell you is that our clients consistently see meaningful ranking improvements. One client saw organic traffic grow over 40% and mobile traffic increase over 230% after launching their adPRO-designed site. Results like that come from doing SEO right — not from making empty guarantees.

  • What is silo architecture and why does adPRO use it?

Silo architecture is an advanced website structure strategy that organizes your content into clear, topic-focused sections — or "silos." Each silo covers a specific topic in depth, which signals to Google that your site is an authority on that subject.

For example, a roofing contractor's site might have silos for residential roofing, commercial roofing, and roof repair — each with multiple pages of related content that link together internally. This structure makes it dramatically easier for Google to understand what your site is about and rank it for relevant searches.

adPRO uses silo architecture as a foundation for every website we build because it produces better long-term SEO results than a flat site structure.

Our Website Design Process

Questions about what it's actually like to work with adPRO from your first phone call through launch day and beyond.

  • What happens during the free consultation?

The free consultation is a no-pressure conversation where we learn about your business, your goals, and your current online presence. We'll ask about your target market, what you want your website to accomplish, who your competitors are, and what success looks like for your business.

By the end of the consultation, you'll have a clear picture of what your website project will involve, a realistic timeline, and a price range. There's no obligation and no sales pressure — just a straightforward conversation about your business.

  • How involved do I need to be during the website build?

As involved or as hands-off as you want to be — within reason. adPRO handles the entire design, development, and SEO process. What we need from you are timely approvals, your content and photos (or approval of content we write), and a single decision-maker who can give final sign-off on each stage.

The biggest project delays almost always come from the client side — specifically from content that isn't ready or multiple people giving conflicting feedback. Designating one person with final approval authority keeps your project moving on schedule.

  • What is the 48-hour approval policy?

At various stages of your website build — after the design mockup, after each section is completed, and before launch — adPRO will send you items for review and approval. Each approval has a 48 business hour turnaround window.

If we don't hear back within 48 business hours, the item is considered approved and we move forward. This policy exists to keep your project on schedule and prevent weeks-long delays that can push back your launch date significantly.

  • What happens after my website launches and I've purchased an SEO Plan?

Launch day is just the beginning. After your site goes live, adPRO:

Submits your site to Google Search Console

√Submits your XML sitemap for indexing

√Verifies that Google Analytics tracking is working correctly

√Monitors initial indexing to ensure Google finds all pages

After launch, adPRO offers ongoing website maintenance plans, SEO monitoring, content updates, and digital marketing services. We don't disappear after the check clears — we're a long-term partner in your business growth.

  • Do you work with clients outside of Southern Maryland?

Absolutely. adPRO is based in Lusby, Maryland but we serve clients across the United States. We've built websites and run marketing campaigns for businesses from one coast to the other. Distance is never an obstacle — everything can be handled by phone, email, video call, and screen share. If you have a business and an internet connection, we can help you grow.

Cost & Timeline Questions

The two questions every business owner asks first — and the honest answers to both.

  • How much does a website cost?

adPRO custom builds every website to meet your specific needs — which means there isn't a one-size-fits-all price. You don't pay for pages or features you don't need. Pricing depends on:

The number of pages and the complexity of the site

    √Whether eCommerce functionality is needed

√Whether content needs to be written by adPRO

√What custom features or integrations are required

√Whether graphic design is part of the project

The best way to get an accurate quote is a free consultation call. We can usually give you a realistic price range within the first conversation. Call us at 443-532-6467 or fill out our contact form to get started.

  • How long does it take to build a website?

adPRO typically allows 30 days for most website projects. That timeframe accounts for content gathering, design approvals, revisions, and the various stages of the build.

Simpler sites — five to ten pages with content provided by the client — can sometimes be completed faster. Larger sites with eCommerce, custom features, or a large number of pages may take 6 to 8 weeks or more.

The single biggest factor in timeline is always content. The faster you can provide or approve your written content and photos, the faster your site gets built and launched. adPRO can write all of your content for you if needed, which often speeds up the process significantly.

  • Do you offer payment plans?

Yes — adPRO understands that a website is a significant investment for a small business. We work with clients to structure payment schedules that make sense for their budget. Typically this involves a deposit to begin the project with the balance due at launch. Ask about payment options during your free consultation.

  • Is there an ongoing cost after my website is built?

There are a few ongoing costs to be aware of:

    Domain name

    — your web address (e.g. yourbusiness.com) renews annually

    Website hosting

    — the server that keeps your site live. adPRO offers hosting plans or you can use a third-party host

    Website maintenance

    — optional but recommended. adPRO offers maintenance plans covering updates, security, and backups

    SEO and marketing

    — ongoing SEO, social media, or advertising services if you choose to continue growing after launch

We'll walk through all of these costs during your consultation so there are no surprises down the road.

Website Content Questions

Content is the most important factor in whether your website ranks on Google. Here's what you need to know.

  • Do I need to write my own website content?

No — adPRO can write all of the content for your website as part of your project. We research your keywords, study your services, and write copy that speaks to your target customer and tells Google exactly what each page is about.

If you prefer to write your own content, we'll provide a content brief for each page and optimize what you submit before it goes live. Either way, no page on your adPRO website goes live with content that isn't ready to rank.

  • Why does content matter so much for Google rankings?

Google ranks pages — not websites. Every individual page on your site needs its own content strategy, its own keyword focus, and its own reason to exist. A page with thin or generic content won't rank, no matter how beautiful the design is.

Google's quality guidelines are built around E-E-A-T — Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. Well-written, detailed, accurate content that genuinely helps the reader is exactly what Google rewards. adPRO writes content with both your customer and Google in mind.

  • What photos should I provide for my website?

Real photos of your business, your team, your work, and your products always outperform stock photography when it comes to building trust with visitors. If you have them, provide:

Photos of completed projects or work samples

√Photos of your team, staff, or owner

√Photos of your location or storefront

√Product photos if you sell physical items

√Before and after photos if relevant to your service

If you don't have quality photos, adPRO can use professional stock photography to launch your site and you can replace images with real photos over time. We also offer photography services if you want a professional shoot.

  • Should my website have a blog?

A blog is one of the most powerful tools for long-term SEO — but only if it's updated consistently with quality content. A blog that was last updated three years ago can actually hurt your credibility.

If you're willing to commit to publishing new content regularly — even once or twice a month — a blog is absolutely worth having. adPRO can help with content strategy and even write your blog posts for you as part of an ongoing content marketing plan. If consistent publishing isn't realistic for your business right now, focus on making your core service pages exceptional first.

Digital Marketing Questions

A great website is just the beginning. Here's what you need to know about driving traffic and growing your business online.

  • Do I need to advertise my website after it launches?

A properly SEO-optimized website will start attracting organic (free) traffic over time — but it takes months for Google to fully index and rank a new site. In the meantime, advertising can bring immediate traffic while your organic rankings grow.

More importantly, a great website with no traffic strategy is like a billboard in the woods. Even after your SEO kicks in, advertising on Google, Facebook, or local platforms like WelcometoSomd.com and SMNewsnet.com can significantly amplify your results. adPRO can manage all of this for you.

  • What is Google Ads and should my business use it?

Google Ads (formerly Google AdWords) is a pay-per-click advertising platform that lets you place your business at the top of Google search results for specific keywords. You only pay when someone clicks your ad.

Google Ads is particularly effective for businesses that need leads quickly — before organic SEO has had time to build. It's also highly effective for competitive keywords where organic ranking is difficult. adPRO manages Google Ads campaigns for clients and optimizes them to maximize return on every dollar spent.

  • What local advertising options does adPRO offer in Southern Maryland?

adPRO has established relationships with the leading local digital platforms in Southern Maryland, including:

    WelcometoSomd.com

    — the premier Southern Maryland community portal with banner ads, sponsored content, and directory listings

    SMNewsnet.com

    — Southern Maryland's trusted local news source with display advertising and sponsored placements

Beyond these local platforms, adPRO also manages Google Ads, Facebook advertising.

  • Do I need social media for my business?

For most Southern Maryland businesses, yes — social media is an important part of your overall online presence. Facebook in particular remains highly effective for local business marketing, and Instagram is valuable for businesses with a visual product or service.

The key is consistency. A social media page that hasn't been posted to in six months tells visitors your business may not be active. adPRO offers social media management services where we create and post content for you on a regular schedule — so your social presence stays active without you having to think about it.

  • What is email marketing and is it still effective?

Email marketing is the practice of sending targeted messages to a list of people who have opted in to hear from you. Despite being one of the oldest forms of digital marketing, email consistently delivers one of the highest ROI of any marketing channel.

For local Southern Maryland businesses, an email newsletter is an excellent way to stay in front of existing customers, announce promotions, share news, and drive repeat business. adPRO can design your email newsletter campaigns as part of a full digital marketing plan.

  • What if I'm not happy with something during the project?

Tell us — immediately. adPRO's goal is for you to be completely happy with your website before it ever goes live. We build in revision rounds specifically for this reason.
